Enhanced Manufacturability and Quality Control
At PartTec we embed our design-engineer into the Detector Group’s daily operations to observe the entire prototyping and detector assembly process. After meticulous examination of the processes PartTec uses this information to make crucial enhancements to manufacturing.
Quality control is essential to manufacturing within budget restraint and keeping costs down. Because detectors cannot be tested in their final environments PartTec has adopted a continuous quality control methodology that builds quality management into every step of the manufacture, requires quantitative measures that can be readily tested, and allows all employees to invest in and control the quality of the product through an informal, daily communication as well as a formal, periodic Quality Circle meeting.
Critical to this methodology is our database in which all parts, kits, components and assemblies are logged when received, assembled, scrapped, and issued to the customer. This database produces the Conformance Document when the product is complete that lists all parts and all procedures along with all tests that were performed on the detector.
The cost savings for the Fiber Neutron Detector assembly were estimated by PartTec to be at least 25% when compared to a Laboratory’s regular manufacturing methods. |
